Performers: Eric Clapton, Santana
Date: June 24, 1975
Venue: Springfield Civic Center
cost of ticket: $7.00
I have one vivid memory from this concert; I was waiting all night to hear "Crossroads". When he finally did played it, he changed the tempo way down, like to almost regaee speed, which pissed me off because I did not get a chance to see him fly on the guitar.
I guess that was Carlos' department.
Toward the end of Clapton's performance, Carlos Santana came out, with many of his band members, as well, and there was a ton of musicians on the stage - very cool. VERY LOUD TOO
Did you see this concert? If so, please leave your memories, comments, thoughts and ideas . . .

my dear sis, that was such an earth shattering event... i'm glad i was just sober enough to remember
most of the show! santana was very
much wow that night... god, i mean eric, was tricking all of us with changes in tempo and attitude on several of the songs... which we now know is why we love him so much
two full shows and my body and ears were ready to go home, but wait! another encore with all of clapton's band and most of santana's army! 20 minutes later and history was made... they talked about that jam on the local radio stations for the next week!
(there is that jam! on another nite in the crossroads 2 live 4-disc set)

Geez
I remember Carlos coming out for more than the finale and that EC was waaay messed up. He spent much time with his back to the crowd. Some locals that were backstage have commented that Carlos was doing Clapton a solid by mirroring the pace backstage and that the sound engineers were sampling him into the mix. I'd love to see video. I had just graduated high school and was there with my best bud Al.
Thanks for all the info.
