Dave Mason, Heart @ Springfield Civic Center, MA

Performers: Dave Mason, Heart, Sanford Townshend Band
Date: August 12, 1977
Venue: Springfield Civic Center, MA
cost of ticket: $6.50

If I remember correctly, a lot of the people who came to this concert came for Heart. I was impressed with their professionalism. However, I was not a big fan of the lead singers voice; she never struck me as a singer of rock and roll. Not enough guts. But she has a cultured voice.

Did you see this concert? If so, please leave your memories, comments, thoughts and ideas . . .

I spent the entire Spring,Summer and Fall of 1977 going to concerts in and around the Hartford,Conn. area, at least 2 or 3 times a week and the Springfield Civic Center was my favorite venue,I always had more fun there than any other arena,a combination of good dope,an uninhibited crowd and many unforgettable concerts will always be remembered.I went to the Dave Mason concert on August 12 1977 and I have the stub to prove it.After 34 years I can remember that at the time the only reason we went to Dave Mason concerts was to see his top notch opening acts and Heart did not disappoint. They were new and fresh and they kicked ass.It was a novelty to see two women fronting a rock band at the time. The Wilson sisters were HOT

Wow, that was a great show. Sanford/Townsend Band opened, they did their hit 'smoke from a distant fire'. Heart was up next, they were terrific and ended with some Zeppelin as they always did. Dave Mason was the headline act, I remember he did a great cover of 'all along the watchtower'. Good stuff.
