Marshall Tucker Band, Elvin Bishop, James Montgomery @ Springfield MA

Performers: Marshall Tucker Band, Elvin Bishop, James Montgomery Blues Band
Date: Feb. 19, 1975
Venue: Springfield Civic Center
cost of ticket: $5.50

I remember this was a long concert for five bucks. If I recall, I think Elvin Bishop thought he was the headliner . . . and many came just to see them especially.

Did you see this concert? If so, please leave your memories, comments, thoughts and ideas . . .

This was one of the best concerts I ever saw...never heard of them before I went, they blew me away, both Elvin and Tucker, who jammed at the end. They were having so much fun, and wouldn't leave so the Music Inn turned off the power. They played right o9n through it, and then left. Rumor had it that they then went to the Holiday Inn and jammed there. Memorable night!

I went to this show. One of the roadies for James said this was the best they ever played, and actually stole the show, though they opened. I tried to smuggle in a quart of Southern Comfort (yuck), and a cop got it, and added it to a garbage can FILLED with booze...

Memories are coming in...James did this song "Are You ridin. on the Train?", and everyone would respond "YEAH"...he kept referring to David Case (guitarist?, as David "Expose Yourself" Case. They were clearly on a roll and had the crowd in the palms of their hands...He also did thid seemingly improv song about a woman getting her packages at the store and all the events on the way home...so much fun!
